Quarter 1 - Lesson 10:
On the Moon, Our Instinctual Drives

The Moon symbolizes our instinctual drives which are based on memory and on the passage of time. It is our inborn cravings that hunger to be satisfied and when fulfilled, we declare we are happy. The Moon is connected with habit formation and as such, plays a role in the formation and maintenance of behavior.

Among the factors found in a horoscope, the Moon is second only to the Ascendant in order of importance. In order of priority, the Sun comes after the Ascendant and the Moon, its purpose being only to realize the innate needs of the Moon. It is these three parts of a chart that constitute the framework or architecture of a human being; all other considerations are there to support these three.

Each of the three "sub-units" must be carefully analyzed, built up, and then combined with one another to form a living image of the person whose chart we are studying.
