Quarter 4 - Lesson 5: Quantity as the basis of Motivation and Drive
Motivation and Drive in a natal chart has a lot to do with strength and strength of a planet's influence has a lot to do with the quantity of planetary forces present and so our first duty is to get a sense of the strength of a natal chart
Our earlier studies have discussed the four major ways a planet can have a quantitative impact on a house, that is, the greatest impact - in order of priority - of a planet on a house is first by physical position, then by rulership, followed by aspect to a house cusp (or planet therein), and finally by ricochet.
But Morin, the ever consummate observer dilates or expands this list to nine ways of which we will only consider the first 7 considerations. Of the seven, the first 5 considerations deal with the various conditions of "position" of a planet posited in a house and how these various circumstances will effect the quantitative impact of that planet in the house.
While we have stressed that the most important planet for a house is its ruler, that doe snot guarantee that it will have the greatest impact quantitatively on the house. The ruler of a house absent from the house only ranks 6th in terms of quantitative impact of the house's affairs.
We demonstrate these points at length using three charts (drawn from AstroDataBank), of Angelina Jolie, the chart of a female suicide, and that of Suza Francia, a teacher of yoga. All have Cancer rising, the Moon in Aries, and the Sun in Gemini.
