Quarter 7 - Lesson 8:
Will a direction to the Midheaven bring honors or merely an undertaking? Part 1

With regard to possible honors or dignities that may arise from a direction connected to the Midheaven, we have considered the five possibilities with the five possible outcomes that may be created as a consequence of a relationship formed by primary motion between a Significator and Promittor in a direction.

Morin points out that not all directions of the MC or to the Sun in the 10th confer honors, even if fortunate, as much by reason of the quality of the MC itself or the Sun, as by reason of the individual Promittors coming into configuration with them.

When a Significator and a Promittor are considered in a general way, he says that only the most general good or evil effect can be predicted. But such a generalization will not allow us to determine with certainty whether the direction formed is something fortunate or unfortunate in actions, or whether it will be an attainment or a loss of a dignity. Therefore, how do we determine whether a direction's effect will be in relation to a dignity or an action?

We start the solution to this issue with an examination of those factors that the Midheaven or the place in a chart that has a significance for honors as a contributing factor to the granting, denying, or eventually their subsequent future loss after their initial attainment.

Next week's lesson will address this same issue, but from the point of view of the Promittor.
