This lesson and lesson 8 will apply our delineation and forecasting techniques on the chart of Benazir Bhutto, the Pakistani opposition leader and two-time prime minister assassinated this past Thursday, December 27, 2007 in Rawalpindi as she campaigned for that position a third time.

The birth data was forwarded to the NCGR email commentary, dated February 10, 2008 "by Lietta Catoni of Montepulciano, Italy, a prominent Uranian astrologer". It was given originally to the Indian astrologer, "K.N.RAO via the Foreign Minister of India: Natwar Singh, via Benazir Bhutto. K.N Rao uses these datas since 80's." She was born 23/06/1953* - Karachi - h: 16:30 LT(-5=GMT) or June 23rd, 1953, 4:30pm.

She was a Harvard and Oxford educated woman who was ("a descendant of a feudal landholding family in Sindh, a southern province" as well as) well connected and heir to a political dynasty. And while she was well liked by people in Pakistan (and many other connections she "scrupulously cultivated" in Washington), she was by no means an innocent and was married to a man who is greatly disliked in Pakistan. Like her father (who had been executed in 1979 for murdering a political rival), her administrations were scandalized and brought down by various corruption charges.

What is noteworthy about the study of this person is our often mentioned consideration to take into account how external environmental factors condition our interpretation of a chart. Aside from noting a person's gender and age, we mention the critical importance of social, religious, and cultural factors when delineating a chart. Her chart highlights this latter point; the West does not appreciate the strong pull of the tribal and extended family mentality as a very powerful determining factor in a person's actions and undertakings in both Semitic and South Asian cultures. Although Benazir Bhutto was educated in the West, her values were deeply rooted in this feudal landholding tradition. 

With a little searching on the Internet, I was able to determine where she spent her last birthday (San Francisco) and her last Lunar Return (Islamabad).

Using our structured approach to interpreting Returns, we study her 2007 solar revolution and apply the various considerations from Chapter 18 of Morin's Book 23 that quickly demonstrates the tragic realization of events during this solar year and lunar revolution already foreseen potentially in the natal.

It is my hope that some good comes to us from this unfortunate event as her chart provides an excellent case study for the application of techniques we have learned to date.
